BOOK PRESENTATION 'TOUT VA DISPARAITRE'
29.09.2009
Hellen van Meene proudly presents her latest book, on 30 September 2009 at Huis Marseille in Amsterdam.
Dutch photographer Hellen van Meene (1972) has made a picture book for Ludion, that is definitely worth checking out. Her predominant theme is still the same: the situation of youngsters, how they move in society, in their environments and social milieus. She takes their picture in their natural surroundings, in their innocence. This book can be described best as a series of instantaneous exposures both in their personal development and in that of Van Meene's work. At once she anticipates their coming-of-age and, in the long run, their mortality. Her models float between those two extremes, in natural light, and are fragile to the bone. They evoke melancholy, fragililty to be cherished. Just like this treasure of a picture book, that is also very international: made by a Dutch photographer, with a French title, a German and English introduction (written by a German artist and art critic, Jörg M. Colberg), and with locations in the United States, in Russia and elsewhere. 'Tout va disparaître' is available in bookshops now. On 30 September 2009 the book will be presented at Huis Marseille in Amsterdam.
